What makes a MAC address valid?
A MAC address is valid when it contains exactly 12 hexadecimal characters, usually displayed as six pairs like AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF. For device spoofing, you usually want a unicast address, not a multicast or broadcast address.
For random spoofing, the safest format is a locally administered unicast address. That means the first byte has the local bit enabled and the multicast bit disabled. MacSpoof can generate those automatically, or you can paste a custom address from this validator.
